Are you looking to buy a home? You are not alone; the Houston region has seen a significant spike in home sales in the last few months. In August alone, Houston realtors sold 9,195 single-family homes, up 6% from the same month the previous year.
The Bayou City has some great, one-of-a-kind neighborhoods that fit a variety of needs, and according to a new report, it is also home to one of the country's most under-the-radar suburbs.
Real estate platform Zillow and review platform Yelp recently released a survey that placed Pasadena, a suburban city in the Clear Lake area of Houston, as number 5 in the top 10 most affordable suburbs with a city feel in the U.S.
"We are seeing extremely strong housing demand due to low-interest rates, and more and more millennials and Gen-Zers reaching prime home-buying age. This demand is also driving up prices and depleting inventory. Young people looking to buy and find space for their expanding families can bid farewell to big-city premiums without giving up the feel of a city in amenity-rich suburbs," Zillow senior economist Cheryl Young recently told Houston CultureMap.
With meandering bayous to explore and eclectic restaurants to enjoy, this Houston suburb keeps its big city feel with suburban size house prices. According to the report, Pasadena's average home value is $168,080, which is about 14% below Houston's proper.
The two websites researched data for suburban areas in the United States' 50 largest metro areas, looking at housing availability, mix and diversity of businesses, along with consumer reviews and check-ins on Yelp to determine their list.
