Houston leads the country when it comes to economic growth potential, according to a new analysis from a national business publication.
Among major U.S. metros, Houston ranks at the top for future economic development thanks to a budding innovation ecosystem, more tech firms and entrepreneurs and a diversified overall economy. That’s the word from Business Facilities magazine, which also cited the presence of groups like Houston Exponential and the region’s concentration of STEM workers in backing up the ranking. Houston is followed by Atlanta; Austin; Richmond, Va.; and Raleigh-Durham, NC to round out the top five major metros.
“If the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Houston, TX is Big Oil, you should widen your perspective. To begin with, the largest city in Texas gets most of its electricity from renewable energy. But today’s Houston is much more than an energy hub,” write the editors of Business Facilities.
